My friend Holly is adopting a child from China, and she put the word out that his orphanage needs warm sweaters for the babies. I’m going to try this pattern—cute, toasty, and simple. I’ll let you know how it comes out.

What a wonderful idea! Makes me wish I could knit. Yes, I am apparently the only hs’ing, blogging mama who doesn’t lol. I’ve been trying on and off for years, and this year bought myself the Klutz for Kids knitting book kit. I am hoping that if I can’t manage on my own, then my 8yod can help : ) .
If I ever make it to baby sweater ability, I’ll get that address from you!
Lissa — this sweater is crocheted. If you need an easy knitted pattern, let me know as I have tons. We did a Birthright Knitting club last year at Church and I did a packet of patterns for the ladies.
Mary—thanks so much! I’d love to see a knitted pattern. I thought this sweater might be easier for me because I’ve been crocheting longer than I’ve been knitting, but I’m about halfway done and I have my doubts…I guess it’s because I’m using a fluffy, slubby yarn, and it’s hard to count my stitches. I think I messed up one of the sleeves, but I can’t find where the error is. Maybe this first one will just have to be like the first pancake—not fit for public consumption!
